NATIONAL QUALIFICATION FRAMEWORK – NQF PROJECTS

The UOB possesses the capabilities and resourc­es needed for delivering a quality higher education experience. UOB has a well established structure that enables it to ensure quality within all of its units. UOB promoted excellence in its programs through a strategic plan that included initiatives to raise the level of quality in the academic and administrative units. To evaluate its accomplishments against its goals, a continuing process of systematic assessment is given high priority by the university. Informa­tion gained from such assessment and evaluation cycles are utilized to ensure the highest possible quality for all university programs.

The University of Bahrain underwent an institutional self-evaluation process is to present a thor­ough institution-wide assessment against eight standards, to determine University of Bahrain ef­fectiveness using the indicators set by the Quality Assurance Authority (QQA), in order to be listed as an approved providers to provide programs to be listed on the National Qualification Framework.

Several stages were included to produce the report:

  1. Setting- up the NQF Team at UOB for Institutional Listing and Mapping.
  2. Undergo the Gaps analysis
  3. Communication lines with the Mapping team
  4. Nomination of Groups for every standards and sub-standards (if needed)
  5. Review the priorities in your Institutional Strategy/Development Plan
  6. Formulate/revise the priorities in QA and include them in the Plan
  7. Articulating policies and procedures
  8. Production of the SER and related documentation
  9. Collecting feedback on the SER
  10. Approval of the SER by the University Council

This report describes the policies, procedures, resources and processes available at UOB. Evidences are included, as much as possible, to support necessary facts and figures. Evidences are available on soft-based copies. The report was organized in accordance to the standard IL format provided by the NQF unit at the National Authority for Qualifications & Quality Assurance of Education & Training.

The University of Bahrain submitted the following programs as part of the pilot stage of mapping to the National Qualification Framework  Project. The QAAC had organized the participation of 18 programs in the pilot stage of the NQF project. An NQF Steering Committee had been formed to be following up with the programs, however all results are to be reviewed by the QAAC. The following was an action plan proposed to follow up with the programs.
